A Three-Pillar Approach to Honors in an Engineering College

This session presents a new and popular approach to honors education in Iowa State University’s College of Engineering. The college recently instituted a three-pillar model emphasizing academic breadth and depth, community, and professional development. This approach is challenging, but flexible, allowing students to demonstrate “honors character” in multiple ways.
