This session describes "cosmopolitan courtesy," a concept to prepare students for intercultural interactions. Blending the notion of everyday "civility" with the philosophical and intellectual background of the concept of cosmopolitanism, this approach encourages students to articulate and practice strategies to cope with unfamiliar and potentially disturbing experiences in distant locales.

Our community engagement portfolio integrates community-based learning experiences with a required reflection component focusing on multi-cultural traditions of acts of loving kindness.
