Can't Wutang Better than Me: Exploring the Production of Creative Space and Cultural Knowledge within the Baltimore City Dance Community

My paper explores the role of dance in Baltimore among underserved inner-city youth and how it provides alternative identities, coping strategies and community. Harnessing their talents with few resources, this youth network provides a dynamic symbolic space in which participants can safely take risks and be expressive.
