My paper compares published ethnographic research on the effects of tuberculosis on marginal populations. I focus on two cases: impoverished Haitians and U.S. and Russian prisoners. I trace the spread of tuberculosis around the world tracking social status's affect on a population's risk of contraction and viable access to treatment.
